Review: Dance troupe leaps into holiday mood
A festive and exciting way to usher in the holidays, Westview’s Dance Troupe presents their holiday performance, “’Tis The Season To Be Dancing.”
The girls have impressed me once again with a stellar show filled with heartwarming Christmas music and phenomenal choreography.
You can feel the energy and liveliness radiating from the talented dancers by just watching from your seat.
They open the show with a cheerful jazz number choreographed by Chloe Lafleur (10). This piece does more than just set the mood: it keeps you anticipating the next dance, and the rest of the show.
The troupe, along with the intermediate class, and some Mesa Verde dancers kept me hooked and entertained the entire night.
With a perfect combination of beautifully crafted, moving dances and upbeat hip-hop routines, the show carries one mind-blowing dance into another.
One of their interpretive dances, choreographed by Ariel Stark (12) to the song “Nicest Thing” by Kate Nash, featured the dancers synchronizing original moves and flying across the stage with frustration and despair. The dance is a beautiful interpretation of people desperately in a one-sided love. Eleven girls running around in flannel shirts proved itself powerful, mellowing the show down to a point of inspiring serenity.
Overall, the dance troupe did an outstanding job and produced a magnificent show. Their dances were new and interesting, bringing their holiday show to a level of superiority.
Bottom line: A+
