After a year of sorting through trash bins for recyclable items, members of Advocates for a Better Environment (ABE), along with ASB adviser Scott Wild, have improved the recycling program at Westview this year.
More than one million pounds of trash were removed from California’s beaches, lakes and rivers on Sept. 19, thanks to the volunteers of the 25th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day. Skyler Vanderhye (11) participated in this event along with the club Advocates for a Better Environment.

With two-a-days twice a week and the regular two-hour practices after school since summer, Lukas Syka (12) can already see his body slimming down. Despite his efforts to stay at a consistent weight during water polo season by eating more than usual and weight-lifting, Syka has already lost six pounds.
